Q: How does it work ?
A: Volunteers and staff plant the garden and care for it and folks from the community can come out to harvest.
Q: Who can pick for free ?
A: Anyone. The garden is about access to healthy food and nature and bringing people together.
Q: Do I have to work to pick for free?
A: No.
Q: Are there any other exceptions to the totally open concept ?
A: Yes, at our LaSalle Square Garden we have a small urban farm area fenced in to grow food for market to raise money for supporting the open gardens.
Q: Can anyone help me find/harvest food?
A: Yes, at our main site on 3701 Prast Boulevard, we enlist volunteers, interns and staff to help harvesters find what they need. During the growing season, we're there from 8am to 8pm. Look for people in blue shirts!

WHERE ARE THE GARDENS?
We have forty+ gardens that are available to harvest from! Our main garden is 3701 Prast Boulevard and is seven acres. The other gardens are satellite locations that are entirely volunteer run, so these may shift from year to year. We're currently working on the 2025 directory - stay tuned!
