Update from May 20th, 2025:
All the beds are planted and the spinach and lettuce have been ready to pick for awhile now. Pickers are just now starting to show up and help themselves – including the deer! I am scrambling to get the deer netting set up above the split rail fence and figure out how we can get the gates to automatically close (like with bungy cords?) so that they remain shut at night. There is still weeding and planting of the large flower bed by Harrison road. The fruit trees are all doing really well. And with the huge tree of heaven gone, there is more landscaping to do! We still need a small shed to fit tools, a wheelbarrow, and other items if anyone is interested in building one or donating one. We also need volunteers to weed and water MWSat, so sign up! This one will take less than an hour to water.
Needs:
Tools/supplies: Need a small storage shed at both locations. Need tomato wire structure supports. Need drip irrigation supplies.
Volunteers: Todd and I are thinking it would be good for us to go door to door with every church in town and explain what Unity gardens are and how they can be involved. If you are willing to connect us with your church, then please contact me and we can all go together.
A BIG THANKS TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE VOLUNTEERED TIME ALREADY OR GIVEN TOOLS OR HAVE DONATED SEEDS! DON’T FORGET TO CONTRIBUTE YOUR OWN PRODUCE TO BOTH SHARING TABLES AT EACH LOCATION.
REMEMBER: Contact me at 574-780-6294 or get on the GROUPME app.
